Summer Camp Assistance Forms

The Kishwaukee Family YMCA Summer Day Camp is a great place for children of all ages to come and have the time of their life. Camp is a place where children can come to be active, meet new and old friends, have positive experiences, be independent, learn new things, and just have a great summer in a supervised and safe environment.

Fees are weekly payments. Those who pay for a membership on the EFT payment plan have the opportunity to have their camp fees deducted from that same account. A $20.00 deposit per camper per week must be paid at the time of registration to reserve a spot. The deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable but do go towards the camp fees for that week. Fees for individual camp weeks are due 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the start of that week. Fees include a weekly field trip and a camp T-shirt.

What to bring: Children need to bring their own lunch, swimsuit and towel, sun block, bug spray, and various items as explained in the parent handbook.

Camp Hours:
7:00 am - 6:00 pm Main Camp Events start at 9 a.m. Please have your children here by 9 a.m.
Children cannot be dropped off before 7:00 AM and must be picked up by 6:00 PM.

Camp Ages: Camp Cowabunga: Entering K - entering 3rd grade (must be at least 5 yrs. old by Sept. 1, 2008) Camp Kishwaukee: Entering 4th - entering 6th grade Camp Woootang: Entering 7th - entering 9th grade.

Camp Tracks:

Campers will spend 3 hours during the week participating in camp track activities. Tracks are subject to change at anytime due to interest and availability. All tracks have limited space. Campers will be placed according to preference and availability. There is NO additional cost for Camp Tracks.

 

TRACK

DESCRIPTION

Aquatics Track

This track is designed for the camper who LOVES water. Activities include swimming, water sports and games, slip-n-slide, and pretty much anything wet. If you like to stay dry, stay away from this track when you choose.

Creative Kids Track

Learn all of the exciting ways to express yourself on paper, with clay or with paint. This creative class will get your imaginative juices flowing and spark your interest in the arts.

Sports Track

It’s your chance to learn a new sport or improve on a sport you already play. The sports include flag football, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball and more. This track is for campers who love to move and like organized sports.

Gymnastics Track

This track introduces children to the principle exercises and skills in gymnastics & tumbling.

Ninja Power Track

This class is focused on teaching children how to move their bodies to protect themselves from physical threats and using their minds to manage emotional distress. Ninja Power Kids build healthy minds and bodies while learning to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

Drama & Dance Track

Do you like to be the center of attention? Prepare, rehearse, and perform skits and dances. In this track, you’ll feel like a star.

Outdoor Exploration Track

Do hiking, insect hunting, and investigating nature sound like a good time to you? This track will have you outdoors exploring, learning, and inspecting.

Variety Discovery Track

A wide variety of activities take place in this track.  Swimming, crafts, silly camp songs, hiking , sports and games.  If you are having a hard time making a choice this is the track for you.

LIT (Leaders in Training)

You're never too old for summer camp! This camp gives older children (ages 11-14) the opportunity to grow as a total person --spirit, mind and body--while still learning new things, making new friends and of course, having fun! Campers spend their track time developing their leadership skills through a variety of character-building projects, hands-on activities and team-building exercises, many of which the campers will decide themselves. LITs will enhance their leadership skills and gain some real work experience by helping camp counselors, program staff, and volunteering in the local community. All LITs are required to complete an application and interview process.

June 8-12

Twisted Travelin’

Step back in time and explore the world in a fun and interactive way—summer camp style!  Do you want to hit the beach at a Hawaiian luau? Find adventure on an African Safari? Travel back to ancient Greece and play some of the original Olympic games? You’ll find all this and more during our week long camp trip around the globe. Life skills: trust in others, making new friends, meeting new people and reacquainting with old friends.

June 15-19

Super Soakin’

How are you going to beat the heat this summer? By coming to our super soakin’ week of fun, that’s how! You’ll enjoy a wet and wild week of water games and pool time!  You’ll love our spins on volleyball, steal the bacon and capture the flag. To top it all off, you’ll get a shot at soaking your favorite counselor in the dunk tank!  Life skills this week include respect, cooperation and meeting new challenges.

June 22-26

Xtreme Sports

Soccer, basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, as well as a GIANT inflatable obstacle course!  This fun-filled week is packed with great games and non-stop action. Dance, marital arts, kickball, balloon stomp, and capture the flag. Be sure to get a good night’s sleep and eat your Wheaties so you can play like a champion!  Skills for life include learning, developing new skills and believing in your own abilities.

June 29-July 3

PIRATES, ARR!

Arr! Tis Pirate Week at camp, and we shall be swashin’ yar buckles. You can look forward to a fun filled wet week where you are sure to live all your pirate dreams. You’ll be searching for buried treasures and following your group’s very own pirate map. Life skills include pride in you and your community   and teamwork.

July 6-10

WATER EXTRAVAGANZA!

From water Olympics, to relay races we will have an extreme water extravaganza!  We’ll even have a muddiest camper competition! You can expect some of the soggiest skits and liquefying laughs you’ll ever encounter.  Bring a swimsuit and towel and be prepared to get wet.  Life skills this week include positive participation along with group and individual responsibilities.

July 13-17

Holiday Hoopla

Who says you have to wait to enjoy your favorite holiday?  This week we are going to be partying like it is the holidays!  Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, or Easter-- we will pick the best part of our favorite holiday celebrations and bring them to camp!   Expect an Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Dress-up Day and lots of holiday crafts!  Life skills include sportsmanship and the power of a positive attitude.

July 20-24

Wet & Wild

Beat the July heat with wet & wild fun!  If you enjoy staying dry, this week in not the week for you.  Explore a soggy week of water adventures with activities that include water wars, wacky and wild water relays, and many damp & dripping events.  Life skills include planning and decision making.

July 27-July 31

OOPY GOOPY

No need to shower before coming to camp this week, you will be getting messy... Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Slimy slip and slide, gross sandwich contest, and homemade oopy goop.  Have fun and get ready to get messy! Skills for life include creative problem solving and positive participation.

Aug. 3-7

Awesome Aquatic Adventures

This week will be devoted to water!  Campers will get soggy, sopping, soaked, dripping, and drenched! That wet stuff is important!  Campers will learn about aquatic habitats in between super-soaker battles & water balloon games galore.  Skills this week include teamwork, responsibility and personal power.

Aug.  10-14

MONKEY BUSINESS

We are going to be MONKEYING AROUND! If it is super silly it will be on our camp schedule this week.  Silly Sunglasses Day, wild relays, crazy carnival games, and wacky water games will all be a part of the monkey business at camp this week.  Sportsmanship, cooperation and group effort are part of this week’s message to campers.

Aug. 17-21

Camper’s Choice!

Campers choose this week!  Enjoy our theme day with Camper’s Choice Awards!  Some of the many awards you can win will include: Funniest Camper, Best Smile, Loudest Camper, Next President, Future Camp Counselor, and much more.  Families are invited to see our talented campers at our traditional camp show. Team building, communication, making friendship ties and keeping them, saying farewells, believing in self worth & closure will all be a part life skills taught at camp this week.

"SUMMER CAMP" FOR PRESCHOOLERS

Kamp Kermit (3 1/2 - 5 yrs.)
Kamp Kermit; a half-day program designed specifically for Preschoolers, 3 1/2 - 5years of age offers all
the fun and the learning experiences of day camp. Some of the activities that they will be sure to enjoy
are arts & crafts, games, songs, music, and nature. Kamp Kermit has themed weeks that keep children
engaged, happy and learning through the summer. Kamp Kermit themes coincide with YMCA Summer
Day Camp.
